ABOUT MARTY'S MUSIC STORE HISTORY
The beginnings were humble enough. Capitalizing from the popularity of polka music throughout the Lebanon Valley in 1946, local accordionist Marty Sorsek opened his accordion sales and repair shop in downtown Lebanon.
Marty's Music Store kept up with changing trends in music, adding phonographs and electronic organ lines to the operation. He sold the store to a group of investors in 1970, who took the business to the next level.
Enter local musician and band director Lee Moyer, who took over the General Manager's role in 1970, and in 1978 bought Marty's Music Store from the primary owner. The rest as they say is history.
Nine years ago, David Moyer (now owner) son of Lee Moyer, recognized that they outgrew their downtown location space and moved the business to their own very original building at 1245 E. Main Street (RT 422) in Annville. The risk turned into big reward, as Marty's Music Store business has doubled since the move. If you visit the award winning building (Most innovative metal building in the United States for nest Architecture and Arthur Funk & Sons by Metal Architecture Magazine), you are sure to be impressed by the design, layout and overall feel of the place. There are rooms for music lessons, retail rooms for guitars, piano, and other instruments, TV and electronics, a loft staging area, a repair shop, offices, ample storage space and a loading garage. All this with plenty of parking.
Even in the smallest rooms, architect Kip Kelly made sure that it accommodates natural light, for both energy and atmosphere.
Marty's Music Store today is one of the top guitar centers in Central Pennsylvania. Another large business segment is Marty's Music School. Between 300 to 350 students occupy the six lesson rooms each week and take lessons from 30 independently contracted music teachers. The music continually lingers on at Marty's Music Store!
